Net line knot: a fisherman’s knot which is basically a ground line hitch (see
page 90) with an extra turn, which provides extra security against
lengthwise pulls.
Make a round turn by taking the end from right to left across the front of
the spar, bring the turn across the front to trap the standing part to the
spar, and then take a second turn bringing the end over the two turns just
made from bottom right to top left, tucking it under the standing part
where it first turns over the top of the spar.
Nip: refers to the frictional pressure within a knot that gives it its binding
and prevents it from slipping; the point in a knot where the parts grip
each other.
Noose: a loop made secure around its own standing part, with a slip knot
which will pull tight. This is an ideal way with which to start tying parcels.
Nylon see polyamide.
