her father had retired as an English teacher from Drieberg’s College. On his last day, he was walked home by an elaborate procession of students and teachers. Leading the procession was Ganesh, then a young boy, holding a plaque given to honour her father, and marching to the sound of the natheswaram and merlam.
Ganesh was determined to study law, and our father with his traditional values, was not so keen. So we sat together and I managed to convince our father of the value of the profession and Ganesh’s passion for it. I pledged to support him through law school, for which I am very pleased. He had an almost innate and heartfelt connection to law and politics.
He lived his life full of compassion and a sense of duty to help all those who touched his life. That was my little brother. My only brother.

A great man, my Chinanna was a hero and role model for our family.
His help, blessings, and the sweet memories left behind, will linger in our hearts forever and will be treasured always. My fondest memories go back to our young days when he was my whole world and fulfilled my every wish.
I am very grateful for his advice and guidance, which laid the foundation for a bright and successful career in teaching.
A loving Appa, a caring brother, a favourite Mama, a good friend and a respectable proctor; he touched them in so many ways. He had performed his duties well and so will be blessed by God on his last journey. Anna, you are no longer with us today, but you will always be remembered fondly in our hearts and prayers.
