Keeping in Contact
We know that it’s
important to hear how
your child is doing while
at camp! Our
photographer posts
pictures daily on myGWT
of our campers so that
you can get a peek in to
your child’s life at camp.
Also, after the first 72
hours at camp, our head
counselors call home to
report your child’s GWT Email
progress. GWT Email is a paid service through CampMinder, an outside provider.
While at camp, we Greenwood Trails has purchased 2 emails per week for each camper
encourage families and through CampMinder. So, those first two emails per week that you will
send through the system are on us- completely free. After that, you may
campers to purchase “camp stamps” that you can use, or give to other family members
communicate via snail- to continue to email your child. This is an inbound email service only. Your
mail and e-mail (inbound child will receive your email during regular mail call and then be able to
only, via myGWT). write you back using snail mail. All the details to register for this service are
Remember, be positive! at myGWT. That’s where you’ll see camp photos too!
Calling Your Camper
In order to get the full benefit of the camp experience we do not allow cell phones to be used by campers
or staff. Please help us give your child the best experience possible by making sure they don’t bring a cell
phone to camp.
If a phone connection is needed, we’ll help you set up a good time after the first week. Phone calls during
nd
the first week can hurt the adjustment process and increase homesickness. Starting on Monday of the 2
week, you can arrange for 1 phone call per week. In order to arrange a phone call with your child, please
email your child’s head counselor - andrea@greenwoodtrails.com (girls) and mac@greenwoodtrails (boys) -
or logon to myGWT and reserve a phone call time slot electronically by clicking on the Phone Reservation
tab. We have two time periods a day that a child could potentially contact their parent: After lunch from
1:15-2:15 or snack time from 3:15-3:50. During the time frame that you have arranged, we will have your
child contact you with the number you have given.
Please do not promise to talk on the phone with your camper and please do not tell them they can come
home early. These promises sound good at the time but are not ones we think you really want to keep
because they tend to undermine your child’s efforts toward independence.
