RESULTS:
After observance of the myogenic cell line, the promoter mCherry positively expressed MyoD genes
with a red fluorescent appearance. When the differentiation of the two lineages were compared, it was
found that neurons took 20 days to differentiate, while skeletal muscle required more time. Both
findings supported the hypothesis and it was concluded that gene transcription by promoter activation
can accurately measure cell differentiation and that neurons require less time to differentiate. With
further research in using neural media with skeletal muscle, a reliable method of creating skeletal muscle
can be constructed. Furthermore, research on neural differentiation can ultimately give rise to an
efficient treatment for neurodegenerative diseases.
