The Everlasting Impact of Parental DNA
INTRODUCTION:
Parental DNA which is obtained from sexual reproduction is how all living organisms start off. Every
organism's origin point can be traced back to their parental DNA. The DNA is manipulated to create different
proteins and different and varied traits among offspring. Genetic material is quite essential for a wide
spectrum of variations. Satellite cells are used to specialize specific genes and DNA fragments in order for
cells to carry out different functions. This is what allows us all to be different. The process of color coding in
embryonic development allows a new point of view into how gametes disperse different traits and proteins.
Previous research such as the Human Genome Project and Cell Differentiation, have paved the way to a better
understanding of what our DNA is capable of. These research studies have helped us to know the main cause,
but not the actual rationale as to how much maternal or paternal DNA is present in each trait. This study
hypothesized that if fluorescent proteins were used to represent sperm and egg, this would show how much
parental DNA impacts specific traits or genes.
