METHODS AND PROCEDURES:
In this research, fluorescent proteins were used to transduce an mCherry-MyoD to pose as an egg cell and a
green fluorescent protein to pose as a sperm cell. Once both proteins were fused and colored coded, it was
expected that the presence of maternal or paternal DNA would show.
RESULTS:
It was observed that when satellite cells divide within the human body, the colors from the fluorescent
proteins would be visible. This allowed determination of whether maternal or paternal DNA was present and
how much was present on specific genes.
