17. AKMENĖ NATURE AND CULTURE PARK
Nature and Culture Park was established in the pine
forest of Akmenė town in 2002. The park area con-
sists of the pine wood, the Dabikinė River valley, a
former sand quarry, and the shore of the pond. The
park is abundant with wooden sculptures and has a
unique stone stage. It is a venue for various cultural
events, a great place for recreation and leisure. This
is a great place to relax or, conversely, to spend your
free time actively.

18. SIMONAS DAUKANTAS’ MEMORIAL MUSEUM
In 1986, the museum to commemorate Simonas
Daukantas, a historian who was the first to write the
history of Lithuania in the Lithuanian language, was
founded in the house where he once lived. Currently,
the museum has about 300 exhibits. Among them –
the chair from apple tree branches made by the en-
lightener himself, fossils of the Papilė outcrop dating
back to the Jurassic period, and finds of the burial
ground. Here, visitors can get familiar with various
documentary material, memories of famous people,
telling about this prominent Samogitian.

19. JURAKALNIS OBSERVATION TOWER
Jurakalnis geological outcrop and spur are neighbo-
ured by a 15-meter observation tower. Having clim-
bed the top of the tower, tourists can enjoy a won-
derful view to the expressive valley of the Venta River,
Papilė town and places to visit: Jurakalnis geological
outcrop and spur, Papilė mounds I and II, St Joseph’s
Church, and the 15-stem lime-tree.
