With extreme fear, we tried to escape from the spot. Fortunately, we
managed to reach the beat office, located near the spot and informed
forest officials about the situation. While resuming the journey with
forest officials; we saw that the elephant that approached us earlier
again started approaching towards us. The elephant restricted our track
for almost about an hour. But somehow with the help of forest staff we
managed to escape out from the spot. Each and every step of our
journey was like a climax, where we confronted many hurdles and at
the same time we enjoyed the scenic beauty of the park, which taught
me about the aspects of wilderness. Despite of the almost like a breath-
       taking experience,
Assam roof turtles basking on a tree branch
                                                                                    lying in water channel
It was undoubtedly an unbelievable, thrilling and unforgettable memory for lifetime. This incident explained all about
the wilderness, which we consider as the forest in day hours. It is worth mentioning that the front-line wildlife field staff
and people residing near forests generally face such incidents.
KNP is a protected forest of global significance. Since most of the protected habitats are suffering from the consequences
of modifications of natural landscapes, which include expansion of cultivated fields near the protected forests, managing
the KNP scientifically and ensuring active participation of all stakeholders in conservation actions would be of
       paramount importance in near future.
