DI - 274 Diagnosis - Diagnosis-fault diagnosis of electronic and electrical parts
Failure phenomenon Phenomenon description
While turning the ignition switch to "ON" position and
stepping down the brake pedal, the brake lamp at one side is
One side brake lamp not on not lit but that at the other side is normal. Take the rear left
brake lamp as an example. The right rear brake lamp shall be
inspected at the same method.
Diagnosis procedure
1. Check the brake lamp bulb.
a. Check if the connectors of left and right rear combination lamps are loose and/or fall off.
b. Dismantle the rear left and right brake lamp bulbs.
c. The positive and negative poles of bulb are connected to
the positive and negative poles of battery respectively.
Check if the bulb can be on.
Check if the result is ok?
Yes>go to Step 2.
NO>replace with the same spec bulb.
2. Check the power circuit of left rear brake lamp.
a. Ignition switch: LOCK.
b. Disconnect the connector H012 of left rear combination lamp.
c. Ignition switch: ON, while stepping down the brake pedal, the brake lamp switch is closed.
d. Measure the voltage between the rear left combination
lamp connector H012 terminal 3 and the ground with the
multimeter in voltage gear.
Standard voltage:
Multimeter connecting Standard value
terminal
H012(3)- grounding Storage battery voltage
Check if the result is ok?
Yes> retest the above steps.
NO> repair or replace the open harness.
