STARTING AND CHARGING - GENERATOR 20-5
8 . Overhaul the generator:
(a) Surface inspection
• Check that the generator connection harness is in good condition.
• When the engine runs at different speeds, whether the generator have abnormal
sound.
(b) Check the charge lamp
• urn on the ignition, and the charge lamp on the instrument is on.
• When the engine is running, the charge is normal and the indicator goes out. If
the indicator does not turn off, check the generator and its connecting harness.
(c) Static inspection
• Open the wire harness of the generator B+ terminal , measure resistance with
an ohmmeter, then exchange for positive and negative probe to measure. If two
resistance value is the same or conductive, the generator is damaged and needs 20
to be replaced; If the difference of resistance value is great, it is normal.
(d) Dynamic inspection
• Start the engine and use a multimeter to measure the output voltage between
the generator's output terminal and the ground, check whether the voltage is
around 13.5V. If the output voltage is lower or higher, the generator is out of
order;Turn on the headlights, blowers and other appliances, check the generator
output voltage. If the voltage declines obviously, the generator is faulty and must
be replaced.
9 . Install the engine assembly.
10 . Tighten the fixing bolt of generator.
