STARTING AND CHARGING - STARTER                               20-7

                 STARTER

                 OVERHAUL
                 1 .    Switch off all appliances and ignition.
                 2 .    Disconnect the battery negative cable (refer to “Chapter 20. Starting and

                        charging - Replacement, battery”).
                 3 .    Fix and lift the vehicle.

                                                           4 .    Disconnect the starter control line
                                                                  connector.
                                                           5 .    Open the terminal B shield of the starter
                                                                  electromagnetic switch, turn off the starter
                                                                  power supply and connect the wire fixing
                                                                  nut. Screw out the fixing nut of the starter
                                                                  power terminal connecting lead.

                                                           6 .    Screw out the fixing bolt of starter.
                                                           7 .    Take off the starter.


















                 8 .    Overhaul starter

                                                           (a)    Connect the negative pole of the battery to
                                                                  the starter assembly housing ground.
                                                           (b)    Connect the battery positive series ammeter
                                                                  to the terminal of the electromagnetic switch.
                                                           (c)    Connect the battery positive pole to the
                                                                  electromagnetic switch plug post. Then the
                                                                  starter shall be running smoothly and the
                                                                  current shown on the ammeter shall be within
                                                                  a reasonable range.

                                                                  If the starter rotates, the noise is abnormal,
                                                                  or the measured current value is not within
                                                                  the standard range, then the starter assembly
                                                                  needs to be replaced.
