DIAGNOSTICS - ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM 04-431

THE ENGINE CAN NOT BE MOTOR JIGGER - (ELECTRIC

                 STARTER MOTOR)

Fault phenomenon Diagnosis logic Possible reasons

                                                  • Battery • Battery fault
                                                  • Starter or starter circuit • Starter or starter circuit fault 04
                                                  • Crankshaft • Crankshaft fault
The engine can not be motor • Camshaft • Camshaft fault
                  jigger - (electric starter motor)
                                                  • Timing mechanism • Timing mechanism fault
                                                  • Injection timing • Injection timing fault
                                                  • ECM • ECM fault

                 Diagnosis Procedure

1 . Check the engine data

                 (a) Ignition switch: OFF.
                 (b) Connect the diagnosis tool with the fault diagnosis connector (16 pins) on the lower
                        left of the dashboard.
                 (c) Ignition switch: ON, and start the diagnostic tool.
                 (d) Read the motor data shown on the diagnostic tool.

Check whether the data flow is normal or not.
                 YES>To step 2.

                 No >Maintenance related faults.

                 2 . Check battery
                 (a) Check whether the battery is in normal status.

                 Is the inspection result normal?
                 YES>To step 3.
                 No >Maintenance related faults.

3 . Check starter and starter circuit
                 (a) Check whether the starer is damaged.
                 (b) Check whether the starter circuit is normal.
                 Is the inspection result normal?

                 YES>To step 4.
                 No >Maintenance related faults.

4 . heck the motor machinery
                 (a) Use an endoscope to observe the in-cylinder condition.
                 (b) Check engine internal parts, such as crankshaft, camshaft, timing mechanism and so
                        on.

                 Is the inspection result normal?

                 YES>To step 5.

                                                                                                         Page 577
