ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM - FUEL PUMP ACTUATOR 11-43

                 FUEL PUMP ACTUATOR 11

                 HOW IT WORKS

The fuel pump actuator is mounted on a high
pressure fuel pump, is a pulse width modulation
(PWM) driver drive. The actuator ground via the
ECM. According to the working conditions of the
engine, the ECM provides the correct fuel flow for
the high-pressure pump by changing the current on
the valve. The fuel pump actuator valve is a normally
open valve. Under high load circuit, the high
resistance may cause fuel pressure to be higher
than the instruction value. The engine control module
(ECM) monitors the working condition of the engine
(including fuel rail pressure readings) and change
the flow instructions, increase (turn on fuel pump
actuator ) or decrease ( turn off fuel pump actuator)
fuel supply of the high-pressure pump.
