ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM - OIL RAIL PRESSURE SENSOR 11-39

                 OIL RAIL PRESSURE SENSOR 11

                 HOW IT WORKS

The oil rail pressure sensor is used to detect the fuel
pressure in the common rail tube, and can respond
to the fuel rail pressure changes. The oil rail
pressure sensor has a 5V power circuit, a sensor
signal voltage circuit and a loop circuit. The ECM
also provides a ground to the sensor circuit. The fuel
rail pressure sensor provides a signal to the ECM
through the fuel rail pressure sensor signal circuit.
The sensor signal voltage will vary according to the
pressure of the fuel rail. When the oil rail pressure
is high, the ECM detects a low signal voltage. When
the rail pressure is low, the ECM detects the high
                                                           signal voltage.
