AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT

REPLACEMENT
1 . Precaution. ((Refer to “Chapter 62. Supplemental restraint system - supplemental

restraint system, precaution”)
2 . Disconnect battery negative cable. (Refer to "Chapter 20. Start & charge - battery,
62
replacement")
3 . Disconnect battery positive cable. (Refer to "Chapter 20. Start & charge - battery,
replacement")
4 . Remove the instrument panel. (Refer to "Chapter 83. Dashboard/instruments -
instrument panel, replacement")
5 . Remove the electronic airbag control unit.
(a) Make sure the ignition switch is in the "LOCK" position.
(b) Make sure the positive and negative battery cables are disconnected.
WARNING

• Do not proceed with the operation within 90 seconds after the disconnection.
• Do not strike the electronic airbag control unit when energized.

(c) Disconnect the airbag harness connector.
(d) Unscrew the grounding screws.

(e) Unscrew 2 bolts and remove the electronic
airbag control unit.

6 . Install the electronic airbag control unit.
(a) Make sure the ignition switch is in the "LOCK" position.
(b) Make sure the positive and negative battery cables are disconnected.
