DIAGNOSTICS - ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM 04-203
(a) Ignition switch: OFF. 04
(b) Disconnect the battery negative cable.
(c) Disconnect the EGR valve connector E18.
(d) Disconnect connector E01 of ECM.
(e) Use a multimeter to measure the resistance
between the pin 1, 3, 4 of EGR valve
connector E18 and the pin 29, 96, 66 of ECM
connector E01respectively.
Standard resistance
Multimeter connection
Standard value

E18(1)- E01(29) <10 Ω
E18(3)- E01(96) <10 Ω
E18(4)- E01(66) <10 Ω
(f) Use a multimeter to measure the resistance
between the pin 1, 3, 4 of EGR valve
connector E18 and the ground respectively.

E18(1)- ground > 10 MΩ
E18(3)- ground > 10 MΩ
E18(4)- ground > 10 MΩ
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>To step 4.
No > Maintain or replace the harness.
4 . Replace EGR valve
(a) Replace EGR valve.
(b) Use a diagnostic apparatus to perform DTC verification procedures.
(c) Implement the steps to read sensor data stream.
(d) Check whether DTC exists.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>Replace EGR valve.
NO >To step 5.
