Official Letter from Superintendent Rolando Ramirez

        Cardinal Family,

More than 3000 people were served a hot turkey dinner at the first-ever Southside ISD
Feast of Giving, and approximately another 2500 people participated and attended the
first-ever Lighting of the S and Parade. We have had incredible gains in our dual language
programs and bilingual services, which you will be reading more about in this edition of The
Cardinal. We can not begin to tell you how proud we are of our Curriculum and Instruction
Department for all their hard work and dedication this semester. So many people and
departments are working so hard to ensure the success of our students. Departments like our
Maintenance and Custodians, to our Child Nutrition and Transportation Department, have all
been staying late to help our campus staff. This is the kind of team effort that will make sure

        we are all successful.

Our top priority continues to be the safety and security of our children. In the days leading up
to the Thanksgiving Break, we ensured that the executive team members and directors along
with student services were out at the high school campus supporting our leaders and teachers
to make sure students were in-class learning. Every minute of instruction counts here at
        Southside.

As we gear up for a much-deserved Christmas Break, I want parents and neighbors of
Southside to know that we are committed to building better relationships and to listening to
all stakeholders. We plan on increasing community outreach with more events at times that

parents and businesses can attend. We hope to bring back information sessions and meetings
to inform the public of what is happening here. TOGETHER, we can ensure the future of
        Southside ISD is a success.

        Rolando Ramirez

                                                                  with turkeys this holiday season.
