Just like the fisherman’s knot (see pages 22–23), the double
or triple fisherman’s knot is used to connect two ropes
together. It is very popular with climbers and anglers as the
extra turns give it additional security.
The triple version shown here is also known as the
double grapevine or double grinner knot, and it can be
relied upon to cope with a heavy workload. Anglers favour wrap and tucK Knots
this knot for joining lengths of fishing line, although it should
not be used on ropes that differ greatly in diameter. The
greater the difference, the weaker the knot will be.

                                         Tighten both knots.
                                         You can either pull
                                         them so that they lie
                                         next to each other or,
                                         alternatively, leave a
                                         short distance between
                                         them.
