Ball Screens
The 76ers offense does not require Joel Embiid to ball screen as much as most NBA offenses. It only represents 7.6% of his usage. If we look at the raw numbers, it looks like he has low efficiency in this area. However, once we dig into it a little deeper we can see why. Joel pops 66.7% of the time and shoots a low % on jump shots which kills his efficiency compared to other bigs who mostly pick & roll for easier shots.
Although Joel is not very efficient on jump shots off the pick and pop, he is deadly off drives after he pops. He shoots 57.9% on those drives with a 1.208 efficiency, which ranks in the top 10 among all players and 6th among bigs.
As noted before, an improved shot will make it even harder to guard on those drives off pick and pops because people will be more likely to closeout harder.
