Summer Development Plan
End of Season – June 15th
• Rest/Vacation
June 16th – July 15th
Emphasis: Balance
Yoga: 2x per week (1 hour) – Tuesday/Thursday
Weight lifting with emphasis on core & balance: 3x per week (1hr) – Monday/Wednesday/Friday Basketball workout: 4x per week (1hr) – Monday through Thursday
• Introduce basketball Yoga as warm up
• Light sessions
• Foundation shooting, strengthen his base
• Demand perfection with footwork, balance, and discipline
• Work on footwork in post and on perimeter – Focus on balance
• Demand discipline on post ups to avoid cheap fouls
• If Joel decided to add new move(s), perfect time to break them down
• More technique based than cardio
• Free after Friday morning session – See you on Monday
July 15th - August 22nd
Emphasis: Shooting
Yoga: 2x per week (1 hour) – Tuesday/Thursday
Weight lifting with emphasis on core & balance: 3x per week (1hr) – Monday/Wednesday/Friday Basketball workout: 5x per week (1hr) – Monday through Friday
• Keep using balance and basketball as warm up
• Discipline, balance, and footwork with shot should have improved
• Time to get higher reps and shoot at higher intensity
• Still sharpening post moves and footwork in post and perimeter
• Introduce Embiid 100 (100 game shots broken down in different series). Do it for first 3
days, get an average score. Only do once per week after that, but work on all the game shots individually. Goal will be to average +15 from first scores by end of summer. (e.g. if Joel averages 62 on first 3 days, goal will be to average 77 by end of summer.
