Important Things To Know During Your Stay
CALLING YOUR NURSE
Your room is connected to the nursing station through an intercom
system. To call your
nurse, press the
NURSE call button
located on the
bedside remote. If you
have any questions on
how to use the call button,
ask a sta member to show you.
USING YOUR PHONE
When calling from INSIDE the hospital, dial the last 4 digits of the phone number only. When calling OUTSIDE, dial 9, area code + phone number. (see pg. 3)
ATM
ATMs are located on the Xst (cafeteria) and Xnd oors.
CELL PHONES
Cell phone use can interfere with patient monitoring equipment, so we ask guests to leave the patient’s room BEFORE using their cell phone. CELL PHONES ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE ICU.
CHILDREN VISITORS
Children younger than 16 years of age must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times and in all hospital areas, including waiting areas and patient rooms. The supervising adult may not be a patient. Children under the age of 16 visiting the ICU should be limited to 5 to 10 minute visits with a parent or guardian. Children visiting the ICU shall be at the discretion of the healthcare team, the patient, and care partners. Children under the age of 16 may not be left overnight in a patients room.
FIRE SAFETY
We have re drills from time to time. If you hear an alarm, stay where you are.
In an actual emergency, hospital sta will tell you what to do.
FLOWERS
Flowers are delivered to patient rooms by individual orists. Flowers are not allowed in Intensive Care Units.
HEARING IMPAIRED
Medical City McKinney has access to the National Association of the Deaf Registry and certi ed ASL interpreters. Your PHI (Protected Health Information) is secure and all of Language Line Solutions professional interpreters are HIPAA compliant and bound to a strict Code of Ethics. Sign-language services for our hearing impaired patients are provided through (Hospital to Provide).
INTERNET
You can use a personal laptop computer and most other mobile wireless devices in the Hospital. Connect your device to our Wireless Guest Network, by selecting GUEST from the list of networks that appear when you click on the wireless icon.
