President’s Message
Helping each of you, as members of this very generous community, accomplish your philanthropic desires is a great honor for the Foundation team. Your investment in the hospital changed the face of healthcare in Indian River County, benefitting all local residents.
Most recently, your enthusiastic response made it possible to advance stroke care at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital. We surpassed our goal of $10.5 million in just nine months’ time. Now, this vital project is underway and scheduled to open in early 2020.
We look forward to sharing future opportunities to augment Cleveland Clinic’s capital investment in our hospital by supporting special projects and accelerated timelines. While our caregivers deliver Cleveland Clinic standards of care, the larger enterprise will address infrastructure needs, as the Foundation continues to advance technology and enhance facilities to support the ongoing elevation of patient care.
Philanthropy has always made the difference in Indian River, as it has at Cleveland Clinic. Innovation, research, medical education, and extraordinary community care are the hallmarks of our organization. Thank you for your past and future gifts supporting the delivery of Patients First care.

Endowment Funds Annual Peer Recognition for Caregivers
Ten Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital caregivers were recognized by a standing-room- only crowd of their peers and family members at the 21st annual Clinical Excellence Awards ceremony, held at the hospital on May 9. Our honorees included nine clinicians who directly care for patients and one support associate – all of whom were nominated and selected by their colleagues.
All contenders for this prestigious award are nominated by caregivers working by their sides daily. These teammates are in the ideal positions to observe the nominees’ professional commitment, positive communication skills, teamwork and expertise, criteria on which the awards are based.

Established in 1999 by Joseph G. Laraja and
endowed with a gift to Cleveland Clinic Indian River Foundation from The Laraja Foundation, Inc., the awards recognize and reward outstanding nurses, patient care services associates and support staff for their commitment to excellence in patient care.
“We’re proud to continue Mr. Laraja’s legacy by recognizing our extraordinary caregivers who put patients first every day,” noted Tony Woodruff, Chairman, Cleveland Clinic Indian River Foundation. “Though it’s been 20 years, his vision remains perfectly aligned with our patient care mission today.”
