               Ways to get involved in the EVOLVE Society:

                   •  Offices – President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer
                   •  Committees – Event Planning and Fundraising, Marketing, Mentoring, Publishing,
                       Toastmasters, HRD Society Development, Membership Development/Recruitment.
                   •  HRD Society Mentoring Program – assists future practitioners in developing a career plan.
                   •  HRD Newsletter
                   •  HRD Symposium
                   •  HRD Volunteer Opportunities
                   •  ROSE Award  –  Recognizes HRD Society Members who, “Make the Net Work,” by
                       diligently carrying out the HRD Society mission. Performance criteria for the award is based
                       on the number of hours member spends in the planning and/or execution of society activities
                       on an annual basis.

               HRD Symposium

               This is an annual gathering of current and former HRD graduate students and it provides a platform
               for individuals to gain professional training, improve skills, acquire the HRD latest trends and best
               practices, and to network with other HRD professionals.

               International Study

               As part of HURD 700 Special Topics, the HRD Program provides opportunities for students to travel
               abroad on an annual international trip. While the trip allows the students to see the world, it is also
               a graded experience where students are expected conduct an HRD-based project according to the
               direction of the Coordinator and instructors.

               Toastmasters International:
               BSU also sponsors a  Toastmasters  International club on campus via the Human Resource
               Development Society. Participation is highly encouraged  given the  amount of presentation  and
               speaking activities HRD grads conduct while in the program. Also,  this is also an excellent
               opportunity to build speaking and presentation skills for your current job or future jobs. It is also a
               great networking opportunity. To join  you  simply need to attend a meeting and  apply  for
               membership. There is a new member fee and a monthly membership fee. This membership fee
               includes a variety of manuals and resources on speaking, access to other books as well as audio and
               videocassettes on speaking and leading. In addition, you receive a monthly magazine that offers the
               latest insights on speaking and leadership techniques.
