Colleagues, it is with great anticipation that
we again approach Winter Commencement,
one of the most important days in the life of
the university. It is a celebration of the
accomplishments of not only the students
who will be receiving their degrees, but the
faculty and staff who have played a major
role in stewarding their success. No matter
what position you hold at the university, the
ultimate goal of your work is the successful
graduation of our students.

The December 15 commencement ceremony
offers another opportunity for you to show
your support for our students and their
families by serving as a volunteer
information specialist to assist guests
attending the ceremony. Welcoming families
and celebrating our students is the singular
most important task for all of us on this day.
I encourage supervisors to approve the
participation of any staff who wish to
volunteer, provided it does not compromise
office coverage.
