FilterAid
The FilterAid is a sustainable water filter designed for developing nations.
The main problem area with existing products was that they were unaffordable for the majority of the
population in LEDCs and they used non-renewable materials which could not be decomposed or recycled.
To solve this issue I decided to use bamboo, one of the world’s strongest, lightest and fastest growing plants
to make the main body of the product. This improves the environmental quality in the areas where the
product is used. The FilterAid can be assembled by anyone at a cost of less than £2.00 using instructions
provided with the components.
