Stuck Indoors? Sniffing Natural Scents Help...
Citrus (limes, oranges, and lemons), revs energy and cuts anxiety.
Cinnamon keeps you sharp. A single sniff ups memory and attention span in older adults.
Dabbing a little lavender essential oil on pulse points will slow heart rate and cut cortisol.
Dragonfruit Is An Edible Fountain Of Youth
Dragonfruit is packed with skin-smoothing Vitamin C, mois- turizing fatty acics, energizing iron and sun-shielding lycopene.
It helps to lower cholesterol, triglycerides and blood sugar and whisks pollutants from the liver
and kidney. It has also been shown to protect against cancer.
Eat it as you would a kiwi - peel it, slice it and serve it.
Or use the peeled dragonfruit cubes to add nutrients to smooth- ies, fruit salads and salsa.
National Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month
Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month runs through September and the disease is on track to be the No. 1 diagnosed cancer in women by the year 2030.
However, doctors at Moffitt Cancer Center say it is possible to effectively treat the disease in an affordable way, by minimizing over-diagnosis and evaluating patients in a cost-sensitive, evidence- based way.
Moffitt’s Thyroid Clinic is one of only a few places in the country that offers same-day evalua- tion of thyroid nodules, permitting clinical assess- ment, ultrasound imaging, biopsy procedures, and
result reporting all within just a few hours, as well as access to state-of-the-art molecular testing for nodules that cannot be diagnosed on biopsy alone.
And Moffitt is almost the only location in the country in which the patient can also be seen – on the same day – by a highly specialized thyroid sur- geon, if surgery proves necessary.
The best way to detect the disease early is to know about the common symptoms of thyroid cancer, “check your neck” and see a physician right away if you notice anything that looks (or feels) like a lump or swelling in the front of your neck.
Recall On ‘Limited Edition’ Cucumbers
Cucumbers that may be linked to one death and nearly 300 illnesses in 27 states have been recalled by their Califor- nia supplier, U. S. health offi- cials said.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Preven- tion, the Mexico-grown cu- cumbers were distributed in Florida as well as other states.
The company, Andrew & Williamson Fresh Produce of San Diego, recalled its “Lim-
ited Edition” brand cucum- bers because they may be re- sponsible for the Salmonella Poona infections, CDC said.
The Mexican cucumbers are the thick-skinned, un-
wrapped type of garden-vari- ety cucumbers and were sent to grocery stores and restau- rants through a produce dis- tributor. If you don’t know if your cucumbers were recalled, the CDC suggested asking your supplier. Or, if you’re in doubt, throw them out.
The cucumbers were sold to Walmart and Safeway. They are also used in dishes at na- tional chains including Red Lobster, and Olive Garden.
