MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA -- When you've spoken out about the removal of racist symbols in the American south, how do you respond when a video shows apparent racism in one of your own stores?
This was the situation facing Apple CEO Tim Cook after video emerged of several black teens being asked to leave the Apple store at the High- point shopping center in Melbourne, Australia.
The reason, so an Apple employee says in the video, was that other workers were concerned the teens "might steal something."
The video, posted to Facebook on Tuesday by Melbourne resident Francis Ose, shows the teens' incredulous reaction when being told why they were being asked to leave.
In his posting, Ose wrote: "Simply Racism, made them apologize tho."
On Friday, BuzzFeed published an email it said was sent by Cook to his employees. In it Cook said Apple is an "open" company and called the incident "unacceptable."
Teens are outraged at treatment at Apple store.
"One of our store employees gave an answer which shocked many of us," Cook said, adding that the employee "immediately" expressed regret to the students. Neither Apple nor Ose responded to my request for comment.
Cellphone May Have Saved Man During Paris Bombing
PARIS - Amid innumerable tales of horror in the aftermath of coordinated terror attacks in Paris on Friday night emerges an unbelievable story of survival that was propelled only by fate.
A man identified as Sylvestre told On Demand News that he was standing outside the Stade de France stadium after ending a call on his Samsung phone when a blast went off, and he was nearly hit by flying shrapnel, according to People magazine. He received an injury to the abdomen, but the phone received the bulk of the damage, notes the report.
"It exploded right in front of me," he told ODN, writes People. "Everything was blown to bits and I felt stuff flying around and I left, I fell and then I got back up."
Early Saturday, ISIS claimed responsibility for the coordinated attacks, which they called the "first of the storm," the report says.
Man identified as Sylvestre was hit by shrapnel. His phone saved him.

France Strikes ISIS Sites In Syria
French fighter jets bombed a series of ISIS sites in Raqqa, Syria, on Sunday in what officials de- scribed as a major bombardment.
The airstrikes came two days after a series of ter- rorist attacks in Paris. ISIS has claimed responsi- bility for the attacks, which France's President described as "an act of war."
SIS claims Raqqa as the capital of its so-called caliphate. The targets in Sunday's airstrikes in- cluded a command center, a recruitment center, an ammunition storage base and a training camp for the terror group, said Mickael Soria, press adviser for France's defense minister.
Twelve aircraft, including 10 fighter jets, were involved in the airstrikes, Soria said. Twenty bombs were dropped, he said, and all of the targets were destroyed.
A pro-ISIS news agency claimed the sites had been abandoned before they were hit.
France has been conducting airstrikes against ISIS targets in Syria since September as part of a U.S.-led coalition.
But the timing of Sunday's airstrikes likely was no coincidence, analysts said.”
It's hard to know what's happening on the ground inside Raqqa. Since ISIS took over, the city has become increasingly isolated -- with an activist group known as Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently providing outsiders with a harrowing glimpse of the city's transformation.
On Sunday, the activist collective said that the city appeared to be bracing for an attack even be- fore the French airstrikes began.
ISIS fighters in Raqqa had expected retaliatory airstrikes and evacuated key facilities, including their headquarters, operation and security build- ings, a member of Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently said.
