Man 20, Arrested In Death Of Ex
WILL REED
NEW ORLEAN, LA --- New Orleans police have ar- rested a suspect in the death of a 20-year-old woman who is confirmed to have been the niece of jazz trumpeter Kermit Ruffins.
Will Reed, 20, was arrested during a traffic stop over the weekend and charged with sec- ond-degree murder in the shooting death of Milan Ar- riola, according to the newswire."I'm quite sure it will all come out," Kermit Ruffins. "Families go through this every freakin' day in New Orleans, and now it hit home. We looked at the news pissed off every morning that some- body's getting killed. We're just so helpless when it comes down to something like this.
"There's nothing that we can do to bring my little niece back," he added.

Humana Inc., one of the Tampa Bay area’s largest em- ployers, will be acquired by Aetna Inc. for $37 billion. The company employs about 4,000 people in the Tampa Bay area.
The deal will create the sec- ond-largest managed health care company in the United States.
Tampa Bay is the second- largest operations center for Louisville, Kentucky-based Humana. The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2016.
Acquiring Humana will allow Aetna to increase market share in the fast-growing Medicare Advantage business. It also would bolster Aetna's presence in the state- and fed-
erally funded Medicaid pro- gram and Tricare coverage for military personnel and their families.
In the game of merger musi- cal chairs the five biggest health insurers have been playing lately, Aetna Inc. and Humana Inc. hustled to grab the first seats. The two insur- ers disclosed the deal after their rivals Anthem Inc. and- Cigna Corp. had rekindled talks.
If Anthem and Cigna also strike a deal, three big compa- nies, each with annual revenue of more than $100 billion, would sit atop the industry, with the third being United- Health Group Inc., currently the biggest by revenue and market capitalization.
COLUMBIA, S.C. --- The depth of support for bringing down the Confederate flag gets its first test in the South Car- olina Legislature this week as lawmakers return to Columbia to come up with a specific plan.
The General Assembly re- turns Monday to discuss Gov. Nikki Haley's budget vetoes and what to do with the rebel flag that has flown over some part of the Statehouse for more than 50 years.
Several bills have been filed,
but details such as when to bring down the flag, whether to put another flag in its place and what kind of ceremony should mark the removal are not specified.
And if South Carolina takes any lesson from the 2000 de- bate that brought the Confed- erate flag off the Statehouse dome to its current location at a nearby monument to Con- federate soldiers, it is that minor details can trip things up.

WHITTIER, CA -- Residents in Whittier, California found Ku Klux Klan fliers on their front lawns Sunday morning, prompting shocked responses from neighbors, the Los An- geles Times reports.
According to the report, one block in the neighborhood re- ceived plastic bags with the fliers, which declared “Wake Up WHITE AMERICA!” along with a rock and some candy, local police told the news site.
“When I first read it, I thought it was a hoax,” Whittier resi- dent Stella Paquin told the Times.
“I have never heard or read anything that impacted me so
much to think, ‘My goodness, there are just such hateful peo- ple,’” she added. “Whittier is a very quaint town. This really shocked us.”
Since Whittier police could find no specific threats in the fliers, investigators declared that no crime had occurred.
This is the second time in as many weeks that fliers from the white supremacist group have been found by unsus- pecting residents in California neighborhoods. Last week, in the same manner, 100 homes in Fullerton, Calif, received such fliers, filled with criticism of Black, Latino and Jewish people.
