On Sunday evening, Tampa Fire Rescue received a call at 5 p.m. about a house fire at East Annie and North 15th Street.
When firefighters entered the house, they found 100 ma- ture marijuana plants instead of furniture.
Damage to the home was es- timated to be $40,000.
Tampa Fire Rescue spokesperson, Jason Penny said a call came in originally to their office as a downed power line.
“When our units arrived,
they found a power line had been extended from a pole to the house illegally. That power line came into contact with a chain link fence and that sparked the fire.”
Penny said the fire is being called arson, and they, along with Tampa Police, are trying to determine whose grow house it was.
No one was living in the home at the time of the fire, and the investigation is con- tinuing by arson officials and criminal detectives.
