Students in Hillsborough County Public Schools are re- ceiving a top-notch educa- tion, outperforming many other students across the country. The Best High Schools in America, as ranked by U. S. News & World Report, was released Wednesday ranking nine Hillsborough County public high schools as tops in the state and the nation.
Highlights include Plant (#29), Robinson (#32), and Newsome (#33) High Schools, all ranked in the top 33 in the state, with Robin- son High School also ranked as the 79th best magnet school in the nation.
The U. S. News & World Report rankings include data on more than 20,500 public high schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Schools are awarded gold, sil- ver or bronze medals. The rankings are based on per-
formance on state assess- ments and how well they serve all students, not just those bound for college.
“Our students continue to show our community and everyone across the nation the skills and knowledge they are mastering in our class- rooms,” said Superintendent Jeff Eakins. “Along with our record-setting gradua- tion rate and our ranking as a top large school district in the country, this shows another reason parents are excited about our schools. I applaud our teachers, administrators and support staff for contin- uing to challenge our stu- dents and provide them the supports they need to be suc- cessful.”
