AIKENS
MR. SAMUEL MITCHELL, JR.
A homegoing celebration for Mr. Samuel Mitchell, Jr., of Tampa, who passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, will be held Saturday, September 24th, 1 p. m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Rev. Michael Hopkins, officiating. The inter- ment will be in Rest Haven Me- morial Park Cemetery.
Samuel Mitchell, Jr. was born in Bainbridge, Georgia on September 21, 1933, to the late Samuel Mitchell, Sr. and Mary Williams. His parents taught him to always put God first and make an “Honest” day of living for himself.
Samuel accepted Christ at an early age. As a toddler his parents moved from Bain- bridge, Georgia to Tampa, (Ybor City). While growing up in Ybor, he attended Hillsbor- ough County Schools. While in school, Samuel worked in a cigar factory making Cuban ci- gars.
He also worked in Ybor City and on Central Ave. as a shoe shiner. While shining shoes he met the president of the Inter- national Longshoremen Asso- ciation (I. L. A.). He started working at the Port Manatee Banana Boat Local #1759 (I. L. A.), then on Tampa Waterfront local #1402 (I. L. A.). While working many, many years with I. L. A., he earned the nick name A. K. A., “Sweet-Back Sam.”
“Sweet-Back Sam” loved sail-boating, fishing, crabbing, swimming and cooking. Samuel retired after serving over 35 years at the Waterfront International Longshoreman Association.
He was preceded in death by: his parents and two sisters, Rose Lee Lawery and Annie Mae Bell; nephews, Johnnie Lawery, Jr. and Jimmy Bell; niece, Janet Baker; and step- son, David Kearney.
He leaves his precious mem- ories with: his children, Kaletha Mitchell-Tate (George), Rosemary Mitchell “Tiger” Carter, Claudell “She- lia” Mitchell-Bush (Gary), An- thony Mitchell (Paula) and Willie “Edward” Kearney; brother, James Mitchell; grandchildren, Spencer A. Pol- lard, Tyrone Farris, David A. Carter, Samuel I. Freeman and Arielle A. Mitchell; nieces, Dar- lene Mitchell (Michael) and Jamie Wicks (Terry); nephew, Joseph Bell (Nellie); great- nephews, Tameel Scott, Jamil Baker, Rashard Brown, Bobby and Bo Bo Black, Malcom, Roland, Joseph, Jr., Tarris and Eric Bell and Carlos Burney; great-nieces, Sophia Baker, Jo’Wanna White (Anthony), Shyla Perkins (Armond), Mo- hogany James, Charpae, Janiyya, Ikai and Toniya Brown, Kathy, G. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Fri- day, September 23rd from 5 to 8 p. m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p. m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel at 12:45 p. m. on Saturday for the service.

MS. MILDRED MAJORIE ELLISON
A homegoing celebration for Ms. Mildred Majorie Ellison of Tampa, who passed away on Monday, September 12th, 2016, will be held Saturday, Septem- ber 24th at 11 a. m. at the Abun- dant Life Enrichment Church, 4701 E. Hanna Ave., Tampa, with Minister James Richard- son, Eulogist.
Mildred was born in La- coochee, Florida, to the late William Ellison, Sr. and Melvina Hannah Ellison. She was edu- cated in Pasco and Hillsborough Counties.
Ms. Mildred was preceded in death by: her daughter, Lorrain Ellison.

Funeral services celebrating the homegoing of Mr. Christo- pher E. Heyward, AKA Dr. Black, who passed away on September 11, 2016, will be held Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 2 p. m., at First Mt. Carmel AME Church, 4406 N. 26th Street, Tampa, Florida 33610, with Bishop Robert Freeman, Pastor, officiat- ing. Interment will be privately.
Christopher E. Heyward, AKA Dr. Black, was born August 14, 1942, on John’s Island, South Carolina to the late Elijah and Sadie Heyward. Christopher qui- etly went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 11, 2016, at the age of 74. Christo- pher grew up with his six broth- ers and attended Hebron Presbyterian Church as a child. Additionally, there were three sisters. He attended Promise Land Elementary School and Haut Gap High School.
Christopher moved to Tampa, in the early 1960s. He is best known as an entrepreneur spe- cializing in mechanics, auto sales and DJ. His passion was to pro- vide affordable transportation to members of the community and was well known as “Dr. Black” for good music with soulful sound. Wherever there was a time to play music “Dr. Black” would bring light to the crowd with his smooth DJ sound on the micro- phone.
He leaves to mourn his cher- ished memories: his wife, Vivian Heyward; children, Carrie Bell Williams (Dennis) of Twin City, GA, Christopher Heyward, Jr. (Mary Ann) of New Castle, Indi- ana, Roland Owens of Sydney, Australia, Betty Jean Ligon, Tamara Carswell (Rico), Chris Heyward, Jr. (Faye), Renae Kendrick, Nikita Wilson, and Rachael Lott of Tampa; brothers, Bishop Christopher Heyward and Eddie Heyward, (Johns Island, South Carolina), Richard Hey- ward, Joseph Heyward, Esau Heyward, and Melvin Heyward (Tampa); grandchildren, Frank, Jr., Britany, Demarquise, Gerald Jr., Sachem, Dorian, Lee, Kiana, Rico, Dominique, Sassy, Chris, Jr., Charles, Tia, Tilidia, Jordan, Precious of Pasco, and Gariona, Crystal of Twin City, GA, Quatavia of Tennessee, Jovonikia of Tennessee; 23 great grands, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; several great lifetime friends.

The assembly prior to the start of the celebra- tion will proceed at 1:45 p. m. The processional will start at 11 a. m.

Ms. Letha Jenkins went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 17, at Tampa Gen- eral Hospital. She was born on January 1, 1916 in Enterprise, Alabama, to Mr. John Holloway and Mrs. Ella Reynolds Hol- loway. Ms. Jenkins was 1 of 9 children and a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.
She leaves beautiful memo- ries: with her immediate family consisting of her only child, Minnie Evans Golden (Mar- shall); granddaughter, Lori Evans James; grandson-in-law, Jesse James; great grand- daughters, Kameo and Kearra James; god- granddaughter, Evelyn Golden; god-grandsons, Ronald and Carl Golden; two sisters, Ozella McCray of Enter- prise, Alabama and Una Hol- loway of Brooklyn, New York; nephews, Richard Roberson and Maurice Holloway and Tony Stewart; closest friends, Mrs. Martha Parks, Ms. Ida Randolph, Mr. Charles Brown, Ms. Ruth Wyatt, Ms. Leola Bor- ders, Ms. Harriet McNealy, Ms. Essie Dooley , Ms. Millie Brown and Deacon Jessie German and wife; and a multitude of friends acquired throughout her 100 year journey.

MRS. JEANETTE M ROBERTSON
Mrs. Jeanette M. Robert- son was born in Philadelphia on March 2, 1934 to Emma and John Earle Jones. She went on to be with the Lord on Thurs- day, September 15, 2016. She was the oldest of four children who preceded her in death.
Jeanette graduated from Simon Gratz High School and later retired from Temple Uni- versity Hospital. She was a faithful member of Faith Emanuel Baptist Church and relocated to Tampa, Florida in 2012.
Services will be held on Sat- urday, September 24, 2016, 11 a. m. at Bible-Based Fellowship Church, 4811 Ehrlich Rd., offi- ciated by Pastor Anthony C. White
Mrs. Jeanette Robertson is survived by: her two sons, James and Darrell; two daugh- ters-in-law, Lenore and Joanne; nine grandchildren, six nieces, ten great-grands, and a host of great nieces, nephews and cousins.
