Floyd Mayweather Vows To Retire After Conor McGregor Fight Saturday
Diddy & Mark Wahlberg Place $500K Bet On Mayweather-McGregor Fight
MARK WALBERG AND DIDDY
While talking on the phone recently, boxing champion Floyd May- weather, Jr. told quarter- back Tom Brady, “I’m going to come watch you play this year — a lot.”
The five-time Super Bowl winner with the New Eng- land Patriots replied, “Good. Take care of business.”
Mayweather, 40, again is insisting, as he prepares to meet UFC champion Conor McGregor on Saturday in a boxing match in Las Vegas, that he will retire afterward.
He’s expected to get more than the $250 million he cleared for defeating Manny Pacquiao in 2015 and said Tuesday that he will pursue an offensive battle to close his career at 50-0. McGre- gor supposed to make about $100 million. A big, big jump from $1 million per fight he gets for fighting MMA.
But what will the man
CONOR MCGREGOR AND FLOYD MAYWEATHER
who has devoted his life to boxing do when his career is over?
“That’s a great question. Because I’m not sure he even knows,” said one of his clos- est advisers, who declined to be identified because of the subject matter.
Mayweather has claimed on at least three other occasions that he was retiring — after defeating
Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton in 2007, and Andre Berto in 2015.
Mayweather said the retirement talk is real this time.
“I gave my word already. Once I gave my word to my children, it’s the end. It came to an end,” Mayweather said. “This is a great event. What better way to go out than with a bang?”
After betting $250,000 on the Floyd Mayweather- Manny Pacquiao fight back in 2015, Diddy and Mark Wahlberg are doubling down on Floyd's upcoming fight against Conor McGre- gor.
The two appeared in an ad spot for the upcoming fight, where Diddy reveals Wahlberg didn't pay him for their previous bet.
"Where's my money at, chump? For the last one?" Diddy declares.
"What do you mean? I gave that to charity. We go double or nothing, right now," Wahlberg replies. Diddy then explains, "Let's go."
Diddy once again bets on Floyd Mayweather, while Wahlberg choose McGre- gor.
Jon Jones Tests Positive For Steriod Before UFC 214 Win
UFC star Jon Jones re- portedly tested positive for Turinabol, an anabolic steroid, prior to his UFC 214 win over Daniel Cormier. Steriods or not, Jones still would have beat Cormier.
A source confirmed
Jones had failed a test, al-
though he noted the fighter
has not yet been stripped of
his light heavyweight title.
He could face a ban from
the sport for up to four
years. JON JONES
