RAY WILLIAMS
MR. COLEMAN B. BELL, SR.
Mr. Coleman B. Bell, Sr. of Tampa, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017. Funeral serv- ices will be conducted Saturday, August 26 at 11 a. m. at Bell Shoals Church of Christ, 2908 Bell Shoals Road, Brandon, FL 33511, with Minister Darryl Beasley, officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Coleman B. Bell, Sr. was a native and lifelong resident of Tampa, Florida. He was edu- cated in the local schools of Hillsborough County and was a graduate of Middleton Senior High School, Class of 1962. Mr. Bell graduated in December 1965 from Florida A & M Uni- versity, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mathemat- ics, and graduated in 1976 from the University of South Florida, where he earned a Master’s in Administration and Supervi- sion. Mr. Bell enjoyed a career in Education and served the School District of Hillsborough County and his community for 32 years. He held many posi- tions to include: Mathematics and Science Instructor, Foot- ball Coach, Basketball Coach, Department Head, Dean, Assis- tant Principal and Principal of Oak Grove Junior High School and Hillsborough Senior High School.
After retiring, Mr. Bell be- came the Director of Youth and Family for the Corporation to Develop Communities of
Tampa and Area Chair of Math- ematics and Science at the Uni- versity of Phoenix-Tampa Campus. He was also affiliated with Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity (Life Member) and the High- land Avenue Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by: his mother, Dorothy Mae Jones; great-grandfather, Jeff Nelson; great- grandmother, Victoria Nelson; grandfather, Perry Nelson; grandmother, Lillie Belle Davis; uncles, Robert Nelson, Jeff Nelson, Jr. and Bernard Nelson; and aunts, Janie V. Kearse and Ali- cia Wilkerson.
Cherishing his life are: daughter, Michelle Bell- Brooks; sons, Jason Bell, Cole- man Bell, II (Ingrid), Reginald Bell (Carmelita) and Marvin Bell (Jorgie); grandchildren, Stevie Brooks, Jr., Dortia Brooks, JaNaria Lofton, Ryan Arline, Marshavia Myrick, Reginald Bell, Jr., Brooklyn Bell, Iyanna Bell, Calique Bell, Carmari Bell, Marialle Bell, Marvin Bell, II, Markeem Bell, Mariyah Bell, Jason Bell, II, Jason Bell, Jr., Josiah Bell, Jayla Bell, Desitny Bell, Sum- mer Bell and Iyanna Bell; great- grandchildren, Chartia Walker, Malachi Watson, John Watson, Jr., Jaheim Watson, Camari Miller; sister, Beverly Arline; goddaughters, Charte’ Myrick, Gladys Lee and Miracle Cooper; godsons, Marshall Myrick, Wilbur Simpson and Cleveland Russ; devoted cousin, James “Pop” Martin; devoted friends, Charles Thornton, Arnold Wat- son, Sheldon Dennard, John Jackson, Andre White, The Middleton Class of ’62, Broth- ers of Phi Beta Sigma and the members of Highland Avenue Church of Christ; very special friend, Betty Baker-Guzman and a host of sorrowing rela- tives and friends.

MR. SAMMIE HICKS
Mr. Sammie Hicks of Tampa passed away on Thursday, Au- gust 17, 2017. Homegoing serv- ice will be conducted Saturday, August 26, at 10 a. m. at Shiloh M. B. Church, 343 “D” Street, Lake Wales, FL 33853. Inter- ment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Bro. Sammie Hicks was a native of Tampa, where he at- tended many Hillsborough County Public Schools, graduat- ing from Middleton Sr. High. He began his career with Tampa General Hospital, retiring after 40 years of service.
Sam was raised in and as a member of Shiloh M. B. Church, under the pastoral leadership of his father, Rev. S. D. Hicks. He served faithfully as director of the Inspirational Mass Choir, the Male Chorus, Musical Direc- tor for Union# 3, Male Chorus, the Middleton Family And Friends Alumni Choir, and Min- istry Leader for the Finance Committee at Shiloh. He was an avid Tampa Bay Buccaneer Fan.
Bro. Sam was preceded in death by: his parents, Rev. S. D. Hicks and Dorothy Hicks; his stepmother, Pearlie T. Hicks; and brothers, Ray Jerrell Hicks and Joseph David Hicks, Sr.

MRS. BRENDA MARCHONNE OLIVER MARTIN
Mrs. Brenda Marchonne Oliver Martin passed away Sun- day, August 20, 2017. Funeral services will be conducted Sat- urday, August 26, 2017 at 11 a. m. at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church, 8525 N. 78th Street, with Reverend Robert Carpenter, II, officiating. In- terment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Ceme- tery.
Mrs. Brenda Martin was a native and lifelong resident of Tampa, Florida born to Alfred Oliver and Constance Richard- son Oliver. Brenda grew up in a Christian home and was con- verted at an early age at St. Matthew M. B. Church. She was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough County and graduated in 1970 from George S. Middleton Senior High School. She further matricu- lated at Hillsborough Commu- nity College and the University of South Florida.
In 1970, Brenda married Rev. George E. Martin. To this union, two lovely daughters were born: Mrs. Sharone M. Patten and Miss Sherrlyn Mar- tin. Brenda was highly active in the community. She worked for Hillsborough County Public Schools for 30 years. She re- cently retired from the teaching profession at Lomax Elemen- tary School. Brenda was also an active member of the Tampa Ministers’ Wives, Florida and International Associations of Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows, Inc.
In 1972, Brenda joined New Salem M. B. Church, where she taught many Sunday School classes and children’s groups. She touched many lives, espe- cially children and youth.
She is preceded in death by: her grandparents, Roosevelt and Irene McCall; her parents, Alfred Oliver and Constance Marshall; and her brother, Master Sergeant Tony Oliver.
Brenda leaves to mourn her passing: a loving and devoted husband, Rev. George E. Mar- tin; daughters, Sharone D. Martin-Patten (Isaac) and Sherrlyn D. Martin (Virtuous); three grandchildren, Vyrshaun D. Williams, Kelcie M. and Kamryn M. Patten; three sis- ters, Irene Oliver, Triniece Judge (Russell) and Constance Longstreet (Richard); aunts, Bettye Jean Ray, Margaret Threadcraft, Phyllis Walker, Carolyn Barnard, Cynthia McCoy, Barbara Coley and Dorothy C. James; special cousin, Sheila Warren (Exum); father-in-law, Fred L. Martin, Sr.; brother-in-law, Fred L. Martin, Jr. (Gilda); sisters-in- Law, Cynthia Roberts, Marion Cail (Frank); godchildren, Keaneatha Carter, Damien J.
