Man Shot Several Times While Riding Motorcycle
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
While a student in the Journalism Program at Blake High School, Ms. Everlicia Taylor knew that she wanted to live in Los Angeles, California. After graduation, she turned down a partial scholarship and moved to the city.
Ms. Taylor said she en- rolled in a community col- lege, but she wasn’t satisfied with the path her life had taken. “People would ask if I was a model, but I couldn’t sing or dance, and the mod- eling idea just didn’t fit. So, I started dabbling to find out what I really wanted to do. I even had a blog.”
As time passed, she nar- rowed her focus and kept notes as she went along. Today, at the age of 21, Ms. Taylor knows that she wants to become more cre- ative and write scripts and novels.
Now that she has found her way, she is sharing her

journey with others who are searching for their respec- tive places in the world. “It is more of an interactive workbook. It is a blueprint on how I found what I wanted to do and how to do it. It is something people of
any age can relate to,” she said.
It took a year for Ms. Taylor to complete the book and then she self-pub- lished. She will introduce it to the Tampa community on Sunday, April 12th, during a book signing. The event will take place at Sistah Sistah Beauty Salon, 1949 W. Cass Street, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.
The daughter of Ms. Fa- tima Clanton and Everett Taylor, she comes from a family of entrepreneurs. Her mother has a beauty shop, her aunt owns a restaurant, and her dad has a trucking company, all of whom who encourages and supports her.
Since moving away, Ms. Taylor has supporters and mentors online as well. Through her writings, she encourages others to follow their dreams and not to set- tle for anything less than their dreams. “The greatest tool of all is to do what you love and love what you do.”
