People With Inadequate Human Services Urged To Speak Up At July 12th Family Forum
Despite ongoing chatter about how times are getting better, far too many people are finding it hard to make ends meet. Social services like food stamps, Social Se- curity, disability, or Medicare frequently don’t pick up the slack.
If that sounds like what you’re going through, For The Family is staging a Fam- ily Forum at the Town n’ Country Library on July 12 at 2:30 p. m. Pastors on Patrol, the Hillsborough Council on Aging, and the Senior Con- nection Center are among the organizations that are en- couraging people to speak up. The library is located at 7606 Paula Dr., #120, Tampa 33615.
Many nonprofits that serve vulnerable individuals and families are facing their
own challenges, and the Forum also offers an oppor- tunity for them to be heard.
For The Family Adminis- trator Ward Cox says that “the situation is even more serious for families with chil- dren, people with disabilities, seniors, and others who rely on essential social serv- ices. For example, Social Se- curity is pretty much the same as it was two years ago, but prices for food, utilities, rent, prescription drugs and other necessities certainly aren’t.”
For The Family began the Family Town Hall Series so that the community could hear the real-life challenges of people caught in the whirlpool. If enough people are heard, positive action can replace the indifference that makes that tide stronger.
