Buccaneers Place Louis Murphy On Injured Reserve
LOUIS MURPHY
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers placed wide receiver Louis Murphy on injured reserve Tuesday, ending his season.
Murphy, 28, had 10 catches for 198 yards this sea- son before suffering a torn right ACL in the Bucs' loss to the Washington Redskins on Sunday. He suffered the injury with less than eight minutes left in the first quarter, when cornerback Bashaud Bree- land tackled him at Washing- ton's 37-yard line following a 29-yard catch.
Donteea Dye, who scored a 7-yard touchdown Sunday on his first career reception, fig- ures to take on a larger role in the absence of Murphy, the team's No. 3 receiver. The Bucs also expect tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins, who has missed Tampa Bay's past four games with a shoulder injury, to return soon and become a factor in the team's passing game.
"It's about the next guy up," coach Lovie Smith said Mon- day.
Adrian Peterson Plans To Pass On The Shrimp, Be Careful About Diet
ADRIAN PETERSON
LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Min- nesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson plans to steer clear of Chicago's seafood restaurants this weekend.
"Yeah, I'll be a little more cautious of what I eat," Peter- son said Wednesday during a conference call with Chicago media members.
Peterson was down- graded to questionable on Sat- urday before Minnesota's road game in Detroit after he vom- ited and fell ill. Peterson's upset stomach originally was attributed to swallowing dip on the team charter during a rough landing at Detroit Met- ropolitan Airport, but Peter- son later hinted that his seafood allergy could have played a role.
"That situation was just so simple, and I really just wasn't feeling well, but they had to re- port it, and coach Norv Turner made a joke, and it just took off, about the dip," Peterson said.
NFL Fines DeAngelo Williams, William Gay For Uniform Violations
Face The Falcons
Two Pittsburgh Steelers players were fined by the NFL on Wednesday for sup- porting causes personal to them.
Running back DeAngelo Williams received a first-of- fense uniform violation of $5,787 for wearing "Find the Cure" in his eye black in honor of breast cancer aware- ness. He has worn the eye black for years, he told ESPN.
Meanwhile, the league fined cornerback William Gay the same amount for
Coming off an emotional loss on the road against the Washington Redskins last Sunday, the Tampa Bay Buc- caneers are on the road again, this time to face their NFC South opponents, the Atlanta Falcons.
The Bucs (2-4) lost to the Falcons 56-14 on their last visit to Atlanta, and how to re- deem themselves with this game, and recover from last Sunday’s meltdown.
Buccaneer head coach Lovie Smith should have no problem getting the team mo- tivated for this contest.
Number one overall pick, quarterback Jameis Win- ston, will lead the Bucs of- fense and although he has yet to find consistency in his play, he results have not been as disastrous as in the past. In
the loss to the Redskins, Winston still posed a passer rating of 128.1, his highest so far this season.
The Bucs may not have the services of wide receiver Vincent Jackson due to a knee injury, and Louis Mur- phy is gone for the season with a knee injury.
Mike Evans has become the favorite target of Win- ston so far this season, and Doug Martin continues to run the ball with power.
Speaking of running the ball, Falcons running back Davonte Freeman has been at the top of the league in rushing so far this season, and his progress has exceeded the expectations of the entire Falcon coaching staff.
Sunday’s contest will be at 1p.m.

Dez Bryant Returns To Practice For First Time Since Sept. 11
Count New York Jets re- ceiver Brandon Marshall as one player who isn't a fan of how Dallas Cowboys de- fensive end Greg Hardy carries himself on and off the field.
"When I look at Greg and how he's handled himself, on the field and in the locker room, I see a guy that is not aware," Marshall said dur- ing a discussion on Show- time's "Inside The NFL" that was broadcast Tuesday night. "He doesn't understand the magnitude of what happened last year, what he did and the

atmosphere surrounding the NFL.
"I don't think that he gets it. I don't think that he learned his lesson. And he re- ally needs to look himself in the mirror and ask himself, 'What type of person do I want to be?'"
IRVING, Texas -- For the first time since Sept. 11, Dallas Cowboys superstar wide re- ceiver Dez Bryant took part in a practice Wednesday.
During the portion of practice open to the media, Bryant went through pat- and-go, ball security drills and individual drills; how- ever, he skipped a tight-cut- ting drill. He also ran on-air routes and caught his first passes from Matt Cassel, the Cowboys' new starting quarterback.
Coach Jason Garrett said the hope is Bryant can do more as the week goes on but he was not ready to pro- claim Bryant ready to play Sunday against the Seattle

Seahawks.
"Hopefully, he can handle
the work and we'll make our best judgments as a coaching staff as for what his role may or may not be for this week- end," Garrett said.
If Bryant can play, then that would greatly impact the Cowboys' offense, which has had just two touchdown passes in the past four games.
Jason Pierre-Paul 'Excited' To Be Back
Brandon Marshall On Greg Hardy: 'I Don't Think That He Gets It'
On Practice Field
JASON PIERRE-PAUL
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Giants All- pro defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul was back in practice Wednesday for the first time since damaging his hand in a July 4 fireworks ac- cident.
Having passed a physical Monday and signed a new contract with the Giants on Tuesday, Pierre-Paul joined his teammates for their regu- lar Wednesday morning meetings, then stretched with the team during the early por- tion of practice before work- ing on the side with trainers for the rest of the session.
It remains to be seen when Pierre-Paul will be
able to play. Sources have said the Giants are hoping he could return in either Week 10 or Week 12 (they have a bye in Week 11), but it will de- pend on how his practices and conditioning go in the meantime. Coach Tom Coughlin was upbeat and optimistic Wednesday morn- ing about Pierre-Paul's condition and said he's hope- ful the defensive end will be as good as he was before the injury.
"He's been working, and we'll see how fast this comes along," Coughlin said. "He's excited about being here. He's anxious to get started. We're all rooting for him."
