Derek Carr Has Great Plans For How To Spend His New Contract Money
DEREK CARR
Derek Carr just finished a great season and followed it up by becoming the highest paid player in NFL history. As a young quarterback negotiat- ing with a team with cap space, he was able to sign a monstrous five-year, $125 million deal.
Carr, 26, threw for 28 touchdowns in 15 games last season, leading the Raiders to the playoffs.
When recently asked what he’d spend all of that money on, Carr gave a tongue-in- cheek answer:
‘Carr asked what he’ll splurge on with $125 million contract: "Chick-fil-A”.
He’d later follow up by say- ing he’d give to his scholar- ship fund, other positive causes, and purchase some- thing for his wife.

Cam Newton: Super Bowl Ring Only Thing Missing From My Life
To Tallahassee To Help Lead
Youth Camp, Charitable Events
Carolina Panthers quarter- back Cam Newton has led a full life and had a relatively successful career, but there’s still one gaping hole that has prevented him from feeling complete: a Super Bowl ring.
At his fifth annual 7-on-7 football tournament at Provi- dence Day School over the weekend, Newton told play- ers from 20 separate high school teams that perfecting oneself is the key to success, adding that his desire to win a Lombardi Trophy is what continues to motivate him.
“I’m looking at my life right now and I’m saying, ‘I’m missing one thing: I want a
Jameis Win- ston has made a few trips back to Florida State since he left the Seminoles after the 2014 season, but his visit on Saturday was a bit different.
The former FSU
and current Tampa
Bay Buccaneers quarterback was
back in Tallahassee
this weekend to vol-
unteer at the inaugural Elite Championship Camp on Florida State’s campus.
The event, which was or- ganized by Richard Terrell Rabb, saw 200 middle school students participate in a free- of-charge football skills camp which saw them get tips and football advice from current NFL and FSU players.
Winston, a massive fig- ure in Tallahassee, is a long- time family friend of Raab, spearheading the volunteer ef- fort both ahead of and during Saturday’s event.
Winston took the time to take pictures with and hand out gear to each of the

campers at the end of Satur- day’s session.
He was also very hands-on during the camp itself, work- ing with the kids in the huddle and playing all over the field, even throwing passes to some of the wide receivers.
“Just him being himself, being a leader,” Rabb said of Winston. “Since I’ve known him in fifth grade, he’s been a natural-born leader.”
In addition to the camp, Winston and Rabb hosted a dinner for homeless veterans in Tallahassee Friday and Winston will also be hosting an autograph session on Sun- day.

Nebraska Coach Leaves Door Open For Keyshawn Johnson, Jr. To Return
Keyshawn Johnson, Jr.
has decided to step away from playing football at Nebraska while he works on some per- sonal issues, but Cornhuskers head coach Mike Riley has made it clear the wide receiver is welcome back at any time.
Johnson, who arrived in Nebraska as a true freshman back in January, was cited for marijuana possession earlier this month. His father, former NFL receiver Keyshawn Johnson, revealed earlier in the week that his son needs some time to “mature.” If and when he decides he is ready to return, Riley said the door is open for Keyshawn, Jr.
“We’re disappointed that he’s not here with us right now today,” Riley said, per Brian Christopherson of the Lin- coln Journal-Star. “I think

there’s kind of a wellness fac- tor for Keyshawn going home. We talked to him about the possibility of maybe en- rolling part time and taking care of his progress toward his degree, and also getting in great shape.
“And we opened the door for return, which is just kind of left open that we’ll deal with at the time that he is physically and mentally ready to do that.”
Jordan Spieth Holes Bunker Shot To End Playoff And Win Travelers Championship
Jordan Spieth needed an extra hole, a little bit of luck and an amazing final shot to finish off a wire-to-wire victory in the Travelers Champi- onship.
The two-time major cham- pion holed out from 60 feet for birdie from a greenside bunker on the first hole of a playoff with Daniel Berger on Sun- day at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn.
The 23-year-old Texan joined Tiger Woods as the only PGA Tour players with 10 victories in the era since World War II. Woods won 15 times before he turned 24.
“That was one for the ages,” said Spieth, also the winner at Pebble Beach in February.
Spieth held a one-stroke edge after each of the first

three rounds. He closed with an even-par 70 to match Berger — who birdied three of the final six holes for a 67 — at 12-under 268.
Berger, the Memphis win- ner two weeks ago before missing the cut last week at the U.S. Open, just missed a 50- foot putt from off the 18th green left that would have forced a second playoff hole.
