Ex-Steelers LB James Harrison Signs With Patriots
JAMES HARRISON
The New England Patriots signed former Pittsburgh Steelers star linebacker James Harrison to a one- year deal Tuesday.
The Patriots released line- backer Trevor Reilly to cre- ate a roster spot for Harrison.
Harrison, 39, visited the Patriots on Tuesday after clearing waivers on Monday to become a free agent.
He posted a photo of him- self with 40-year-old quarter- back Tom Brady from the Patriots locker room on his In- stagram account, joking that he finally has a teammate who is older than him.
Ex-NFL LB Antonio Pierce Expected To Join Herm Edwards’ Staff At ASU
HERM EDWARDS AND ANTONIO PIERCE
Herm Edwards has de- cided to leave his ESPN studio job to become the head coach at Arizona State, and it sounds like he is taking a former col- league with him.
Former New York Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce, who worked with Edwards as an ESPN NFL studio analyst for several years, is reportedly joining Edwards’ staff at ASU.
According to SunDevil- Source, the 39-year-old is the first known member of Ari- zona State’s 2018 defensive staff after defensive coordina- tor Phil Bennett recently an- nounced he will not return for personal reasons.
Steph Curry ‘Really Serious’ About Joining Panthers Ownership Bid
And Saints On Sunday At
When an NFL team — es- pecially one of the caliber of the Carolina Panthers — goes up for sale, a lot of people are going to say they’re inter- ested. The trick is separating those who are actually serious from those who just think it’s a fun idea.
Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry wants to make it clear that he sees himself as the former, not the latter.
Curry was the latest high- profile name to put his name forward as a member of a po- tential Panthers ownership

The Tampa Bay Bucca- neerss (4-11) were thought to be a team on the rise after winning nine games last year but have regressed in several ways, and it’s likely to cost Coach Dirk Koetter his job. Reports are the team could bring back Jon Gru- den, who still lives in Tampa, led the team to its only Super Bowl title and was enshrined in the team’s Ring of Honor in Week 15 during his Monday night broadcast of the game vs. At- lanta.
The Bucs dropped a fifth straight game Sunday, 22-19 in Carolina. Seven of the team’s losses have been by six points or fewer, including the past four. Winston threw for 367 yards and a touchdown vs. the Panthers but was sacked six times and had three fumbles. Eight starters missed the game due to injury, including three of- fensive linemen.
The New Orlean Saints (11-4) are currently the fourth seed in the NFC and would host Carolina in the wild-card round as things stand. New Orleans beat At- lanta on Sunday, 23-13. One of the most unusual inter- ceptions you will ever see oc- curred in that one as Saints cornerback Marshon Lat-

timore, a Defensive Rookie of the Year candidate, basi- cally picked off a pass off his own rear end. That changed momentum in the game. Thanks in part to Latti- more, the Saints defense is light years better than it was a year ago. Drew Brees completed 75 percent of his passes for 239 yards and a touchdown, joining Brett Favre and Peyton Man- ning as the only quarter- backs to throw for at least 70,000 career yards. Brees will take over first place in that category next season, assuming he keeps playing.
The Saints are at worst a wild-card team and will be division champions with a victory or Carolina loss. The Bucs will be trying to stop the Saints from winning the division on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. at Raymond James.

group, and speaking to ESPN’s Rachel Nichols, he said he’s completely serious about getting in on a bid to buy his hometown team.

Terrell Owens Says He Is
The Tampa Police Depart- ment is currently investigating an incident with a vehicle reg- istered to Tampa Bay Bucca- neers wide receiver DeSean Jackson that was involved in a crash on Christmas Eve.
At approximately 8:28 p.m., officers responded to a single-vehicle crash near In- ternational Mall on Westshore Boulevard in Tampa, three miles from the team facility, according to the police report obtained by ESPN.
They found an abandoned Chevy Silverado that had left the roadway and crashed into a tree. Inside the vehicle, po- lice found 6.3 grams of mari- juana and two .38 caliber hollow-point bullets, accord- ing to the report.
Possession of 20 grams or less of marijuana is a misde- meanor in the state of Florida and subject to a maximum fine of $1,000 and a year in jail.
Jackson was contacted by authorities and later re- sponded to the scene, telling
Blackballed From NFL Like
Colin Kaepernick
Terrell Owens thinks he and Colin Kaepernick have something in common when it comes to their NFL careers.
Owens said that he, like Kaepernick, is being black- balled from the NFL because of off-field “politics.”
“What’s stopping Colin Kaepernick from being in the league?” Owens asked, via TMZ. “You trying to tell me he can’t play in the league right now?”
Owens feels that he’s being kept off the field due to similar off-field aspects, and sounds like he realizes that he’s not going to play profes- sionally again.
“I appreciate the years that I played,” Owens said. “Now, life goes on.”
TERRELL OWENS
It’s fair to say that any concerns about Owens are of a slightly different variety than those about Kaeper- nick. Fairly or not, though, it probably comes down to the fact that Owens is 43 now, and he last played in 2010. He’s been angling for a come- back ever since, but if it was going to happen, it would have by now.

police that he was not operat- ing the vehicle at the time of the crash.
"It was a friend of De- Sean's who borrowed his car while he was out of town with- out his knowledge," said Denise White, a spokesper- son for Jackson. "None of what was in the car was his, obviously. He's dealing with the person that was using it without his knowledge pri- vately. The incident is being handled."
According to a report from NFL.com, Jackson initially declined to cooperate before providing the name of the driver.
