AIKENS FUNERAL HOME
MRS. MARIE HIRES KILLINS
Mrs. Marie Hires Killins received her reward in heaven on May 22, 2016.
This family matriarch was born in Madison, FL, on May 13, 1928. She held our family together as she and her hus- band, companion and sweet- heart of 68 years, Arthur Lee Killins, raised seven children: Willie C Robinson, Larry Killins (Patricia), Mary Wal- ton (Eugene), Patricia Blan- ton (Eddie), Arthur K. Killins, Sr. (Phyllis), Christopher Webb and Joshua Aguiar.
Our mamma was strong and soft, kind, selfless, pa- tient, honest, thrifty, stern, and giving. She would handle situations that others would never go near. She was the most dependable, even-tem- pered person you could ever meet.
If she was your friend, she was your BFF for life: Emma Lee Hires, Bernice Webb and Delores Coleman.
She was the epitome of in- tegrity. Mamma was a foster parent for many years. She also opened her home and her heart to love and care for family and friends’ children. She believed in NOT sparing
the rod. However, she would spoil the child, LOL.
She was our mentor, spiri- tual advisor, midwife, and much, much more. Our mamma wore many hats and she wore them all well. She al- ways set a positive example for us to follow and told us to, “Always trust and depend on the Lord, lean not to your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him, the good and the bad, and watch Him do it.” She was our role model. We all looked up to her and we thank her for paving the way for us to excel in all aspects of our lives.
Mamma was preceded in death by: her parents, Ella and A. J. Hires; and three brothers, Willie C., Robert Lee and Herman Hires.
In addition to her husband and children, she leaves: a brother, Ulasee Mason; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and, great- great grandchildren; and multiple cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She also leaves: three sis- ters-in-law, Katherine An- drew, Juanita Bryant and Myra Killins; and, a brother- in-law, Jessie Killins.
Our family sends special, heart-felt acknowledgement to the entire staff at Fairway Oaks Center Nursing Home for the outstanding care they gave to our mamma and our entire family for over six years.
Mamma’s remains will be cremated by Florida Mortu- ary Funeral and Cremation Service. Our family will me- morialize her privately.
You are welcome to visit Florida Mortuary’s website at: http://www.floridamortu- ary.com/ to share your love, memories, and photos of Mamma.
