Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay has received a grant in the amount of $5,000 from State Farm In- surance to support the imple- mentation of the “JA More Than Money” program for Hillsborough County fourth grade students.
JA More Than Money (MTM) is a one day program for 4th graders that teaches students about earning, spending, sharing and saving money as well as offering ideas to students about how they can start their own busi- ness or find jobs that they can perform to earn money.
The project is a partner- ship of State Farm, Junior Achievement Tampa Bay, and Hillsborough County Public Schools. JA staff re-

The hair care industry is one of the most competitive in the business world, and for many customers, it’s hard to distinguish one from the other.
When GoBeautyGirls opened, they carefully studied that dynamic, and went out to make sure their store offered more to their customers.
GoBeautyGirls owner, Shawn Baek, said they’ve only been open for a month, and although business has been slow, they expect things to pick up as word gets out about their special features.
“We try to offer so many special treats to our cus- tomers to first make sure they return, and then to make sure they tell their friends.
“It’s also important to be in a good location, and after looking around, I think we found a pretty good spot.”
Shawn admits that all beauty supply stores sell pretty much the same prod- ucts, but they offer deals the others don’t.
The Havana Twist Hair Style is available at GoBeau- tyGirls.
“By offering package deals, we help our customers save money while at the same time providing them with the prod- ucts they’re looking for.
“I intentionally hire local students in my store so the customers will feel more com- fortable and also so customers will see my efforts of trying to give back to the community.”
GoBeautyGirls is located at 5902 40th Street in the same building that was known for years as Nick’s Grocery, and they are open Monday through Saturday from 9 a. m. until 8 p. m.

Following participation in the program, students are able to build on their under- standing of money basics and
apply those skills to daily life, as well as recognize the sig- nificance of money manage- ment in making informed life decisions.
The check presentation was Tuesday at Muma JA BizTown, located at 13717 N. 22nd. Street, Tampa, FL.
