Church Plans To Feed/Clothe The Needy With Fruits Of Their Labor
His Emotions
A one-year celebration is planned for their community garden.
On Saturday, May 21, 2016, Mt. Olive M. B. Church, 4008 E. Cayuga (Dr. C. P. Epps Dr.), will host a community-wide feeding of the homeless and those in need.
The church’s pastor, Rev- erend Michael V. White, had a vision for a vacant lot at 4011 E. Curtis, for the church to plant a community garden that would produce vegetables to feed the hungry on property once filled with weeds.
The garden is part of the church’s new mission of health and wellness of body, mind and soul. The garden will help with meals the church is planning to serve once a month.
On May 16, 2015, the garden was dedicated to God. Follow- ing the dedication ceremony, 75 adults and children started planting rows of beans, squash and cucumbers. Since then, the garden has grown beyond its humble beginnings to include a variety of vegetables. Seeds have replaced the weeds.
“We are serving a community 0f so many needs. Through this, people will have a meal,” Pas- tor White said.
The one-year anniversary celebration will begin at 11 a. m. Volunteers will distribute clothes to the needy, as well.
Lord, You have said in Your Word that You redeem our souls when we put our trust in Your (Psalm 34:22). I pray that (husband’s name) would have faith in You to redeem his soul from negative emo- tions. May he never be con- trolled by depression, anger, anxiety, jealousy, hopeless- ness, fear, or suicidal thoughts. I know that only You can deliver and heal, but use me as Your instrument of restoration. Help me not to be pulled down with him when he struggles. Enable me instead to understand and have words to say that will bring life.
I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horri- ble pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. He hasputanewsonginmy mouth – praise to our God; many will see it and fear and
wilt trust in the LORD. PSALM 40:1-3
Lord, I pray that You would set my husband free of nega- tive emotions. Release him to share his deepest feelings with me and others who can help. Liberate him to cry when he needs to and not bottle his emotions inside. At the same time give him the gift of laughter and ability to find humor in even serious situations. Teach him to take his eyes off his circumstances and trust in You regardless of how he is feeling. Give him patience to possess his soul and the ability to take charge of it (Luke 21:9). Anoint him with the oil of joy (Isaiah 61:3) refresh him with Your Spirit, and set him free from any destructive emotions this day.
He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but whoever walks wisely will be deliv- ered. PROVERBS 28:26
