• Tuanku Muhammad (1898-1933)

Tuanku Muhammad was recognized as Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan

following a British-brokered agreement between himself and the Undang in 1898.
Tuanku Muhammad proposed that the Malay State should raise a military and

police force as he is one of the Rulers of the Federated Malay States (FMS). He

also promoted that the development of the of the education sector in his State.

• Tuanku Abdul Rahman (1933-1960)

He was elected as Yang di-Pertuan Besar when his father Tuanku Muhammad died
in 1933 but formally installed in 1934. Tuanku Abdul Rahman became the first
