keys on piano. Also notice that just like piano, there are no sharps are flats between E-F & B-C. So
when playing these notes you don’t skip a fret, instead you play the next fret over.

Now try this exercise
• Play your low E string (this is called open E) while saying “E” out loud.
• Place your first finger (index) on the first fret of your low E string.
• Pluck the string while saying “F” out loud.
• Now slide your finger up one fret, pluck again and say “F#” out loud.
• Slide your finger up again one fret, pluck and say “G”.
• Do this all the way up the neck until you get to the 12th fret.
• Don’t forget about E-F & B-C!
