Em &
A Sus2
Lets now move on to learning two new chords; the Em and the Asus2. As we learned in
previous lessons the lowercase m stands for minor. But what about that sus2? Sus is short for sus-
pended. We’ll discuss this in more detail in a later lesson. For now we will keep and use the same
Fretband labels on our guitar as these two new chords use the same basic fingerings with just one
modification.
Good news! If you can play E & Am then you already know how to play Em & Asus2.
Lets play Em.
1. Position your fingers as if you are about to play an E chord.
2. Now, lift up your index finger. That’s it! You are now playing an Em.
