Notes On The

                Second String

In this lesson you will learn to recognize the notes of the second string as they are found on
          the guitar.

             B C C # D D # E F F # G G # A A # B

As you learned previously, the 2nd string is called the B string. Like the E string, this is due
to the fact that it produces the B note when plucked. In previous lessons you were shown
that pressing down on the string at any fret along the neck will change the note that is pro-
duced. The chart above shows you which notes would be produced if you were to press the
          2nd string in each fret.

Familiarizing yourself with the notes of the B string will enable you to learn more
songs and expand your reach on the musical staff. Remember the rewards of learning the
guitar correctly. You will go farther in your playing if you fully learn each lesson as it is pre-
sented instead of trying to skip ahead to more.

Take this time to pluck 2nd string while pressing it at each fret. Say each note aloud
as you play it to ingrain it into your memory. As you know, you should be sure to place
your finger as close to the fret as possible but not actually on top of the fret itself to avoid
