Notes On The


                  Third String




          This lesson will build on the knowledge that you have already acquired in learning the 1st and 2nd
          string notes to teach you the notes of the 3rd string. As you know, the notes of the 3rd string repeat
          themselves at the twelfth fret so once you learn them to the eleventh fret everything else will be
          repetition.

          In standard tuning the 3rd string picked without holding a fret produces the G note. This is why
          it is also called the G string. Begin by familiarizing yourself with the chart. Learn the notes of the
          string by playing them one by one until they have become familiar.
                 Learning the notes of the three top strings opens up a world of possibility for playing. You
          have the ability to learn triads and even do some lead work over them. Your progress to this point
          is by no means insignificant. Keep up the good work!
