HOW TO MANAGE ANXIETY & END PANIC ATTACKS
So regardless of whether we look at this technique from an Eastern or a Western perspective, it is proven to work.
Just ask Sarah and Dan.
The moment I entered Sarah’s dressing room and saw her on the floor sobbing and surrounded by all of the ladies in her wedding party, I was quite certain about what was happening. Her mom’s quick response to my inquiry confirmed Sarah was in a full-on panic attack.
Convincing all of those ladies to leave Sarah alone with me was right up there with getting between a momma bear and her cub! But with a warm and reassuring voice I kept repeating to her protectors, “I really know how to help Sarah. I promise I can make her feel OK and get her up that aisle.” One by one the ladies left and I got to work. As the story was told in Chapter One, I quickly checked in with Sarah to make sure she did indeed want to marry Dan that day. I wanted to preclude the possibility that she had a valid reason to be frightened to walk down that aisle. I had never officiated a shot-gun wedding, and Sarah’s was not about to be my first.
With Sarah’s concurrence that she did indeed want to get married, I immediately launched into Tapping. I felt competent to dispense the important protocols as I was an expert and this was an emergency that required immediate corrective action.
I’ll finish telling you the details of Sarah’s story and then will walk you through the very simple steps of Tapping so you can do it for yourself at home.
Recall this pivotal moment: “OK then, Sarah, I want you to pay really close attention to me. I want you to repeat everything I say, and everything I do. Can you do that?”
Sarah nodded, yet continued to hyperventilate between sobbing and tears.
I began tapping on the Karate Chop point on the side of my hand. Sarah did not immediately copy me, so I took her hands and helped her copy my action. “Keep tapping there,” I said, “and repeat after me.”
