HOW TO MANAGE ANXIETY & END PANIC ATTACKS
I led Sarah through the tapping points on her body as she continued to repeat the same phrase after me. The physical tapping stimulated the lowering of her adrenaline and cortisol. She stopped sobbing and started breathing more normally. It’s physically difficult to tap and talk and hyperventilate, and her brain was being forced to devote resource to the tapping process.
As Sarah calmed down she interjected, “That’s crazy. I’m not going to wake up dead!” I smiled, chuckled and refocused her back to the tapping exercise. I needed to get her hormone levels low enough that she would not revert to panic if she stopped. I took her through the cycle three more times. She started showing signs of composure. I then had her complete the last few steps in the protocol, and we locked in a connection between a rational calm thought and the thought of walking down the aisle.
Sarah took the last few deep breaths to complete the process. I gave her the biggest, most loving smile I could and said: “So, you ready to marry that man?!”

Sarah laughed and took my hand, and I walked her across the huge reception hall to the wedding room. She stood all smiles at the end of the aisle as I proceeded towards a very relieved-looking Dan. I turned to face their friends and family, the music shifted for the entrance of the bride and I loudly proclaimed, “Ladies and gentlemen, please stand for the entrance of the bride!”
I love my job.
