Keep Your Brain Lubricated
Our bodies are almost 65 percent water. Water plays a role in every function of the body and brain. Staying hydrated is so important I could write an entire book on why!
Adults should aim to drink about 3 litres, or 12 cups, per day on an average day. Hot days or days of heavy exercise will require higher consumption. Adult females tend to need slightly less: 2.2 litres, or 9 cups, per day.
Water is absolutely critical to your brain function. It also:
• Controls your body temperature
• Aids digestion
• Carries nutrients around your body and to your brain
• Lubricates and cushions organs and joints
• Gets rid of waste and helps you detoxify
• Keeps your bowels regular
A lack of water can severely impede your brain function and, as a result, make it easier for your body to default to anxiety responses.
Some of the symptoms of dehydration include:
• Being thirsty
• Dry lips and mouth
• Flushed skin
