▶ CHOICE NEIGHBORHOODS INITIATIVE (CNI)
The Choice Neighborhoods People Program provides case management and relocation services to public housing residents in Flint, Michigan. Each People Program family coach oversees a caseload
of Choice participant families as they are relocated from Atherton East to new housing, including developments specifically built to provide new mixed-income housing units to public housing residents. The People Program collaborates with partner agencies and programs to deliver services and resources to improve the health, education, and self-sufficiency outcomes of Choice Neighborhoods families. Utilizing family centered coaching, People Program staff provides holistic, wrap-around services to support families as they set and achieve goals. The People Program also creates events and other opportunities for community building for Choice Neighborhoods families and their surrounding communities. To be enrolled in the Choice Neighborhoods People Program you must have lived at Atherton East after October 4, 2017 and not moved out early or have been evicted. Other eligible participants are those families that receive public assistance to live at one of the Choice Neighborhoods developments in Flint, Michigan.
▶ FLINT AND GENESEE LITERACY NETWORK (FLGN)
The Flint and Genesee Literacy Network (FGLN) is comprised of hundreds of community stakeholders who are committed to improving the quality of life for all learners. The mission of Flint and Genesee Literacy Network is to seek out, convene, align, and build capacity in partners who improve the lives of individuals, children, and families of Flint and Genesee County by radically raising literacy levels. FGLN focuses on School Readiness; School Success; Post-Secondary Success; and Gainful Employment. MCC serves as the fiscal agent for FGLN.
